The end of the world

When I was young and impressionable, my English class studied John Wyndham's The Chrysalids. It made an indelible impression on me, particularly the revelation that New Zealand is the safe haven at the end of the world. Nice to know I won't have far to travel when it all hits the proverbial.

Which is why I found this BBC World Service podcast so interesting:
