Who wants a drink?

Last four or five stories I've written, at some point my protagonists have ended up in a pub, where they proceed to, well, just sit and drink. For ages. Sitting, talking, pouring out pints of infodump. And it's always hard to get them out of there back onto the street and the rest of the story.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is my subconscious telling me something?

I can't say I've had that problem myself, and it's hard to know without seeing the story itself whether it's really a problem or not.

I'd suggest not stressing about it too much. When you're working on your first draft, let the scene stand just so you can get it out of your system. What goes in now can always be mercilessly hacked out later.

It's not really a problem, but it is odd. Perhaps it's some kind of authorial tic - remember when every Stephen King story had something glowing a ghostly green?
